Section I: Are there leverageable online resources?

With our inventory of shows, we can address just about any major small business topic and then demonstrate point-by-point from the best practices of other small business owners. In our current work with Thomson Learning, there has never been a chapter where we could not find an appropriate case study material. We have been doing just this since 2000 with the business professor-authors of Thomson Learning's leading business textbooks for MBA programs.

Our case study materials are now used as chapter endings in over forty of these best-selling business textbooks, in several languages, in business schools around the world.

3. Small Business Resource Center: The web site becomes a collaborative work area for each small business owner. All the questions asked of the business owners profiled within an episode are now asked of the small business online. The small business owners know that by answering these questions they are populating their own confidential and secure templates that they control.

Over 2000 questions from over ten years of television are all becoming interactive and as each small business owner answers questions, they also complete a template. Once they are satisfied with the look and feel of that template, they can request that it be made public on our website. Once validated by the local small business advocates, it will be posted, with web links back to their own site.

The first templates to populate are an overview (or profile) page which is their contact information, products/services, and associations (and validations), a case study guide (mission and vision statements), and a transcript (the history of the business). Then, there are many other possible templates including business plans, offering memorandum, and even an exit strategy. Small business owners will be able to use collaborative tools with their CPAs, even with their lawyer, banker, suppliers and staff, to complete these templates.

The first three documents, once posted on our site, qualfiies that person and business to be placed in the queue and listed for consideration for a profile within an episode of the show.

Increasingly some of these profiles will become locally broadcast episodes and may never be broadcast nationally. Our goal is to have a 50/50 mix so the 26 national episodes give the local people even more credibility.

There will be further discussions about this asset.
