1. You made your first sale!
2. You have a name for your business.
3. You have a first-draft business plan.
4. You have a few advisors.
5. You are aggressively doing product development.

You enter this phase when you can say, "I am ready, willing, and able to sell!" You have successfully sold your first product or service to some other company or a person outside your family and circle of friends.

You will go to Step 4 when you are selling enough to replace the income from your full-time job.

Four Paths Within Each Step

1. The Basics. Look at where you are. You'll be learning how to do constant self-assessment. You now have the makings of a business. You have a mission statement, a URL, a working draft of a business plan, advisors, a product (or service), and a customer.

1. What are you doing to add to your knowledge base? This is your exptertise.
2. How are you supporting that first sale? What do they say about your product and service?
3. How are you structuring your days to be fair to your current employer, yet keep building the momentum ? Two hours a day? Weekends?
4. If you were doing this full-time, what would be your sales projections for the month? Could you live on some of the retained earnings and still continue to bootstrap your business? What is required to make that happen?
