1. Past: Transcripts. Most all of the
transcripts are available at no charge for our visitors and viewers. For our
fellows, students, and insiders, these transcripts are linked to video clips
and the interactive study guides. (more about
Transcripts)
2. Present: Executive Summary / Overview /
Profile. The upper right-hand corner of any four-box presentation on
this site will go to a thumbnail description of a business. Plus, learn how
this owner was selected for a show, read about their contributions to their
community (social
capital) and their industry. There are also one-line summaries (and
hotlinks) to each of the key teaching points, plus many hyperlinks for more
information.
There are hundreds of profiles and thousands more to
come.
Most state references go to
small business resource pages
within that state. These small business references will be among the most
comprehensive on the web (for every state and territory in the USA and
eventually every country in the world). Plus, every show has been
indexed by state.
3. Future: Television broadcast schedules.
First, there is the immediate future -- what's happening later today. If you
click on "schedules," it will
take you to our dynamic look up of those episodes of the show that will be
airing later today. There is also a summary by
state. And, if you ever miss a broadcast, there is usually
streaming video of that show (five or six minutes
anyway); the entire streams are always available to students, insiders, and
fellows. Collaboration is
part of the future and changes the television model entirely.
Each week we build out the Streaming Video Library for
every episode of the show, every segment, and every key point. As the show goes
to the satellite for broadcast, it also goes to the lab to be digitized and
streamed on the web. Every word is analysed and contexted. Our knowledge
management tools and natural language queries of the entire database are
evolving.
Please note: The broadcast schedules do not
include every station in the USA and Canada where the show airs. Several
PBS-member stations that carry the show are rebroadcast on Dish Network and
DirecTV and the show is re-aired on both. Several of our PBS-university
licensees also distribute the show via cable and PubTV and TV Guide do not pick
these up. The show is also dubbed in different languages and aired in China,
Mongolia, Russia, Latin America (3500+ cable stations), Poland and the United
Arab Emirates. These global schedules will someday be posted dynamically by
those who broadcast the show.
Increasingly this lower righthand part of a web page
will have four active options:
» Watch an episode: Look
at the schedule of broadcasts, watch the episode as streaming video at the same
time it is being broadcast somewhere in the world, then join their
collaboration event after that episode has aired. Although the discussion will
be about local issues (as related to the content of the show), it will be
hosted by key thought leaders and small business advocates within that
designated market area (DMA).
» Join/Post. Join a
discussion group about that content of a web page on this site, or post a time
to host such an event. You'll be able to join a discussion group about the
content of any page you find interesting, even if it is
your own page! Essentially these
are small collaboration events, very particularized by interests and
participation.
» Collaborate within the
weekly scheduled events with one of the hosts of the show, one of the stars of
an episode of the show, or with a nationally recognized small business
advocate.
» Research for a
business owner or those business owners with whom you would like to transact
business.
4. Foundations: Case
Study Guides - Questions & Answers. We are always in search of
concepts and behavior, and information - knowledge - insight - and - wisdom,
which seems to be universally true, ethical, and makes the world a better
place. (more about
Foundations)
This evergreen content becomes our case study material
and these case studies appear in many of today's best-selling college business
textbooks. We began doing these case studies in 1994 as part of the curriculum
circulated by PBS every week to every college and university in the USA.
Systems: Systems philosophy, how everything is
connected to everything, guides the thinking about the architecture and design
of this website.
Model: The four-box model which is our logo and
was earlier used as a web navigation tool (sample) is actually the four base units within an
octahedron. It represents the first step to go inside that most basic structure
where a basic one-to-many relation is defined. It is being used as a design
architecture.(Tell Me More)
Database: Our biggest
strength has become our weakness. We have virtually no control over the
WebSphere DB2 database. But, that is changing!
Today, there are four different indexes to take you
to complete list of episodes of the show:
- Owners name
- Business name
- Business
type
- Listings
by state
