1. Make the selection uniquely your own.
Modify this selection criteria in any way to meet your local requirements and to develop local consensus among other small business advocates as to what a good business is and who should be listed. The current crtieria for selection

Since 1994, we have turned to the national trade association of every small business that has been profiled to ask, "Is this a person who represents your industry well? Is he/she respected within the industry? The national trade associations have always had an important say in the final selection of a business to be profiled on the show. If there is a question or doubt, that business was passed over. Who better knows the heart and soul of these small businesses? Often businesses come up on our list because they have received national awards or have been recognized by a national publication. We know nothing more about them.

2. List all good small businesses. The general listing could be perceived as a member benefit whereby just by being listed (and linked to that business' homepage), the business is recast within a national-global ranking and is in the queue to be considered for an episode of the show.

3. Associations Benefit. Generally the Association's leadership does not want to make a selection. They are happy to validate. In new selection process, businesses can self-nominate. They asked to specify a trade association. In time we can sort that list by trade association and provide the current ranking for the next business to be selected.

A consultation with each association will always be part of the selection process.

It will be perceived as a significant member benefit to have that critical validation. In that such a selection process rewards the good and ignores the bad, it reinforces the fabric of American idealism.

These stories as case studies can be used by the Association. A class could be created around ten such businesses.

As far as we know, this is an unprecedented proposal as a modus operandi for any selection process for a media production.

We always invite our viewers' COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS and we invite the same from you.
Your feedback is very important.

Over the years, the feedback of our viewers has been most encouraging.

Support References: The television specials that we have done over the years involve as many as 30 different small business owners. These people are truly our personal heroes!

Las Cruces and Silver City, New Mexico: We asked these two The local chapters of your national trade association to identify members who have been creating jobs within the year. We emerged with this list! That is possibly over five years of television productions! The people in this episode of the show are truly American heroes. We suspect everybody who was nominate is as well!
