| The Good, the Bad and the
Ugly: Forever an archetype, that film (with Clint Eastwood, Eli Wallach,
and the gang) personifies our culture. The Bad and the Ugly have gotten
respect. Ethics and integrity get lip service -- hardly seen as an asset. If we
judge from most of the daily news shows and the most-watched television and
cinematic productions, the very pillars of democracy and capitalism are being
seriously undermined by much of the media every day. |

| Strange things have happened. Enron has
become a bellwether. The effects on our culture and the global culture have
been devastating. Cultural wars have been rebirthed at every level. Perhaps
simple efforts, like the ideas represented within these pages, could help to
reverse the damage that's being done. Again, as we go forward, each National
Trade Association is in an even stronger position to help shape the future of
the community. |
