Small Business School

ON BECOMING A BILLIONAIRE. This entire show is about the roots of human freedom and ultimately that includes economic freedom. The people in this episode of the show share real insights; many would say these are the secrets to personal success. Yet, some of you might conclude, even though their advice comes right from the heart of their personal experience, "...sounds too simple, even simplistic." Don't be fooled. Just think a little about their Key Idea #1, "Communicate Your Vision." To execute on that statement, you need a vision and you need somebody with whom to communicate it!

And, to develop a real vision that inspires and drives others is hardly trivial. Our work on our mission and vision statements is never ending.

And, you'll need people. Networks of people. call it, People Power (there's an episode about it linked below). When these veteran entrepreneurs answer the question, "How did you do it?," think about how you are doing it. Understand extensibility. Yes, extensibility. You extend yourself through others and then through systems. Of course, the web is the penultimate "extensibility system" and many new billionaires will continue to emerge virtually overnight. How extensible are you and your systems through the web? There is an entire episode about that issue. To get robust, to get to the the next level, may require extending the way you are thinking about growth and succession.

The Transcript. There is this transcript and study guide, then there are all the transcripts and study guides for the various episodes for all 21 people you see in this one (all the appropriate links are below).

So, what is it? What does it take? What is that tenacity that takes these people through the difficult times and over the impossible hurdles?

  • MISSION & VISION STATEMENTS:
Based on the four basic questions about life – we all struggle with them throughout a lifetime – these are: "Who am I? Where did I come from? Where am I going? And, what is the meaning and value of my life?" A philosopher, Immanuel Kant. (1724-1804) raised these questions in his book, Critique of Pure Reason, in 1781 and these continue to abide as the four most basic questions humans ask about life.
